Visible Fruits of Accomplishment: Stagiaire, Modern Day Apprentices The Hidden Trade of the Kitchen
Conclusion
As the law stands
today, staging in several European countries and in America would be
deemed as illegal. It can be argued that staging is an isolated phenomenon as opposed to other unpaid internship labors.
Some might view the stage as an opportunity to free education which
seems like a bargain, whilst others may see it as an exploitation of an
indentured laborer. Legal or not, staging will most definitely continue
on. Regardless of how you view the stage, one important rule should be
taken note: a good stage experience should both teach and feed you. Only
those who are willing to face their limits and overcome them will grow and gain
the visible fruits of accomplishments.
